Postdoctoral Researcher in Glaciology (100%)
The successful applicant will be pivotal in further developing a line of research aimed at tackling some of the most pressing needs in glaciological research: The interplay between subglacial processes and macroscopic ice flow, as well as the prediction of glacier-related hazards in the context of rapid, climate-induced glacier changes. With his/her expertise in modeling ice flow, glacier drainage, and/or glacier-related hazards, the applicant will be integrated in a team that has long-lasting experience in the characterization and modelling of both subglacial hydrology and future glacier evolution.
The successful candidate holds a doctorate in the field of glaciology, and has an emerging track record in either glacier modelling, the quantitative investigation of glacier-related hazards, or the analysis of processes occurring at the ice-bedrock interface. The candidate has a degree in a field of quantitative natural sciences (preferably physics), and has obtained the doctorate no longer than four years ago. The ambition of developing an own research portfolio in line with the group's strategic objective is the most important prerequisite. Experience in glaciological fieldwork is an asset.
