The Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS) is operated by ETH Zurich and is located in Lugano, Switzerland. CSCS develops and provides key supercomputing capabilities for solving important problems in science and society. CSCS is now fully integrated in the European scenario where the scientific computing community is facing massive application software development challenges due to node architectures that are rapidly becoming more massively parallel and heterogeneous.
Computer/Computational Scientists in Scientific Computing Support Group
The User Engagement & Support unit (UES) is in charge of designing, running and supporting services on leading edge HPC and is divided in two main groups: Scientific Computing Support (SCS) and Compute and Data Services Support (CDSS) groups.

We have two open positions in the SCS group, where you will be contributing to the different aspects of the service life cycle: from the conception phase to deployment, optimization and support of a wide range of scientific workflows in production. The positions are initially limited for 2 years, however we can extend the positions and there is also the possibility that the positions become permanent.
You have a Master  (ideally PhD) in computer or computational science. You are expected to have proven experience in HPC programming (MPI, GPUs and node-level parallelism) and expertise in at least one of the following topics: performance analysis and modelling, systems benchmarking, software and system regression testing, scientific applications & libraries (building, installation, testing, community engagement). Experience in supporting users, optimizing existing scientific software and programming in C/C++ and Python are highly appreciated. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential alongside the ability to collaborate with peers and research teams. Your excellent command of spoken and written English (our official working language) and enthusiasm for working in an international environment helps you fulfilling your goals.
We look forward to receiving your complete online application, addressed to Stephanie Frequente, CSCS Human Resources. Please note that we exclusively accept applications submitted through our online application portal. Applications via email or postal services will not be considered.
