Project Engineer – Intelligent Control of Electric Discharge Machining

Inspire AG seeks a Research Engineer to join our Process Research group. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) and other areas of the manufacturing industry.

• Conduct basic and applied research in EDM process technology together with industrial partners
• Provide technical support for the development and implementation of control algorithms for EDM machines based on physical models and artificial intelligence
• Support the development of AI learning algorithms for EDM process control
• Assist in designing and conducting EDM experiments, including setup and operation of oscilloscopes, current probes and other relevant equipment
• Analyze experimental data and contribute to research findings
• Operate and maintain commercial EDM machines
• Collaborate with the research team on various EDM and Non-EDM related projects

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics a related technical field
• Strong interest in research and curiosity about physical causalities, prototyping, and hands-on technical work
• Interest and basic competence in mathematical modelling and application of AI
• Basic knowledge of electrical systems and safety standards
• Familiarity with ECAD software for creating electrical schematics and layouts
• Programming skills, particularly in Python or C++
• Ability to work with electrical test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English
• CH/EU/EFTA citizenship or a valid work permit for Switzerland
