Communications Officer for Design++

Design++ is the Center for Augmented Computational Design in Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) at ETH Zürich. The objectives of this initiative are to develop digitally augmented design tools and computational processes that will enable experts to simultaneously increase construction productivity, improve the quality of the built environment and substantially reduce the ecological impact of AEC sectors. Design++ focuses on extended reality (XR) tools enabled via the new Immersive Design Lab and utilizes relevant AI and machine learning algorithms to explore our research questions. Design++ bridges domain expertise from leading researchers in the fields of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Computer Science.
You will work directly with the executive director of Design++, and you are expected to be in a 20-30% position depending on your experience and availability. This is a time-limited position with an initial 12-month contract and an option to extend starting as soon as possible. We are flexible to negotiate what day you would work and the start date.
Job description
We are looking for you - a communications officer to join the executive office of Design++. In this position, you will support the communications and some event activities which are essential to building the network internally at ETH Zurich and externally with industry and society. You will be responsible for implementing regular electronic communications including the Design++ website, social media platforms, and quarterly newsletters. Additional tasks may include writing, editing and proofreading documents and/or creating visual graphics, images and photographs.
Your profile
- You should have experience as a communications specialist, with well-developed abilities to strategically promote projects and information across a full range of communications partners.
- Skills preferred for this position include strong organizational and project management skills, professional level competence in English and German writing, use of Adobe AEM web content management system, MS Office software, and the ability to work with a wide range of people from different cultural and professional backgrounds.
- Furthermore, you have a high level of initiative and the ability to work independently and well as a team player. Abilities in web programming, document layout using In-Design or other Adobe software, and scientific communication including architecture, engineering or technology writing are all considered very strong assets.
