Environmental Strategy Officer for the Global Ecological Research Group
We are seeking a specialist in environmental management to join the operational branch of the Crowther Lab - a unique research group which aims to improve our collective understanding of the scientific processes that regulate the Earth’s climate.
This person will be responsible for developing and implementing our environmental partnerships strategy which will enable us to scale the application and scope of our research.
Specifically, the Environmental Strategy Officer (ESO) will lead efforts to integrate our science within the conservation movement. They will be responsible for:
- Identifying, managing and executing strategic relations to apply our science.
- Liaising with our global network of conservation projects
- Communicating the impact of our research through high-impact presentations, and written articles
- Working with programmers to develop our digital ecosystem monitoring tool which will display our ecological data maps to the public
- Shaping our science, providing practical insights from the field and global conservation efforts
Additional responsibilities will also include supporting the group’s Managing Director and communications team in setting annual targets and funding our ongoing operations.
We look for a highly-motivated candidate with a strong background in the field of environmental management, conservation, and/or policy; a degree in these areas is preferable, but not essential. The role will require travel. The individual should be a self-starter with a can-do attitude, ready to spear-head a diverse range of projects; we are a mission driven group that envisages a future in which Earth’s ecosystems thrive. The work will absolutely require a passion for ecology and an appreciation of its role within conservation efforts around the world. Whilst prior experience of corporate social responsibility and carbon markets would be beneficial, this is not mandatory. Excellent project management skills, the ability to learn quickly, delegate and be resourceful in how we communicate our work will be important in this constantly changing environment. Excellent oral and written skills in English are required. The successful candidate will be employed on an annual contract, renewed on a yearly basis.
We look forward to receiving your online application including a 1-page statement of interest and a CV, by or before 30 September 2019. Please note that we exclusively accept applications submitted through our online application portal. Applications via email or postal services will not be considered.
