The Center for Security Studies (CSS) at ETH Zurich is a center of competence for Swiss and international security policy and peace promotion. It offers policy expertise in research, teaching, and consultancy.

Project background

The CSS Think Tank serves as an important link between academia and practitioners in the field of security policy and as a point of contact and reference for the wider public.

Our CSS Mediation Support Team facilitates efforts to negotiate, mediate and transform violent political conflicts by conducting research, providing training (e.g. peacemediation.ch) and directly supporting those engaged in peace practice and conflict transformation processes. We are seeking someone to work as an administrator to support the management and running of the CSS Mediation Support Team and in addition covers admin and event-related tasks of the CSS Think Tank head.

Job description

The successful candidate will act as the CSS Mediation Support Team administrator and management support. They will play a key role in facilitating the smooth running of the team’s programs and projects. You will support the CSS Mediation Support Team in organizational and administrative tasks, including but not limited to the following: workshop logistics and event organization, participants' travel and accommodation arrangements, contracts and invoicing, budgeting and accounting, management of the team website, liaison with ETH Zurich central services, archiving program documents and materials, and supporting partner management with reporting, invoicing and liaison on administrative issues. In addition, you cover administrative tasks for the head of the CSS Think Tank, including invoice reporting and event logistics.

Profile

We seek a curious, flexible, cooperative, independent, and stress-resistant person with strong organizational and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will have a relevant BA degree, a minimum of two years' work experience related to organizing educational programs, international events management, or a related field. The candidate should have some experience related to working in international and/or intercultural settings, and they should have an interest in peace mediation. Excellent English and good working knowledge of German is required. Knowledge of other languages is considered an asset.
