The Department of Circular Engineering for Architecture (CEA) is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Technical Specialist (Polymechanic) to join our dynamic research team. As a vital member of our research group, you will play an essential role in the practical implementation of experimental research within the construction industry. This role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects, supporting doctoral students and researchers in their experimental investigations.
Job description
- Supervision & Support: Provide guidance and support to researchers and doctoral students in conducting experiments and workshop work involving various machines and equipment.
- Machine Operation & Maintenance: Safely operate and maintain a wide range of machines, including heavy-duty equipment, to ensure smooth execution of experimental tasks.
- Tool & Component Manufacturing: Manufacture tools and components required for experiments, working with materials such as steel, timber, chrome steel, aluminum, plastics, and composites.
- Safety Responsibilities: Serve as a key member in ensuring the safety of both laboratory and construction site environments. Lead safety briefings, perform risk assessments, and provide ongoing safety training.
- Lab & Workshop Organization: Manage the organization of lab spaces and equipment, ensuring all tools and materials are properly maintained and readily available.
- Equipment & Material Orders: Oversee the ordering and maintenance of lab equipment and materials required for research purposes.
- Construction Safety Officer: Take on the role of a safety officer on construction sites, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and safe working practices.
Profile
- Polymechanic (EFZ) Certificate: A completed Polymechanic apprenticeship (EFZ) is required.
- Safety Officer Certification: Experience or certification in safety management, especially in laboratory and construction site settings.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in both English and German is required for effective communication within the team and with external stakeholders.
- Independent & Proactive Work Style: Ability to work autonomously, showing initiative and a creative approach to problem-solving.
