Scientific Assistant : History of Art and Architecture

The Institute of the History and Theory of Architecture of ETH Zurich, founded in 1967, focuses on the theoretical reflection of the past and present of architecture. The professorship for the Theory of Art and Architecture, Prof. Philip Ursprung, offers a position for a postdoc starting 1 March 2025 or by appointment. The professorship is specialized in research and teaching the history of contemporary art and architecture.
Job description
As a scientific assistant at the professorship you are expected to develop your own research and contribute to the teaching of the professorship. Research is self-chosen and should lead to further qualification (second book) and the continuation of a career of academic leadership. Teaching includes contributions to seminars and lectures, as well as seminar weeks.
Profile
Candidates must have earned a doctoral degree in art history, architecture or related fields. The professorship has a flat hierarchy and puts much emphasis on a culture of community. Strong competence in English is required.
