Teaching Assistant at the Chair of History and Philosophy of Mathematical Sciences for a blind post-doc

The chair for history and philosophy of mathematical sciences is looking for 1-2 teaching assistants to support a blind post-doc’s teaching and research activities. Our courses cover the history and philosophy of science in general and mathematics in particular, and critical theory approaches to knowledge (broadly construed).
Project background
A central topic in the post-doctoral research is the architectural background of Greek geometry constructions.
Job description
As a teaching assistant you will mainly be supporting the blind post-doc in his research and in preparing his seminars. Tasks include one-on-one reading sessions with the post-doc, collecting and editing the reading material, setting up the Moodle and Perusall sites, grading some student assignments, as well as being the first contact for students in case of administrative questions.
Profile
We are looking for motivated and reliable MAGPW or other Swiss university Master students. The following competences are desired but applicants who can only fulfil some of them are still encouraged to apply:
- the capacity to read scientific and mathematical texts and to describe mathematical figures
- a certain knowledge of Greek so as to read quotes and words
- the capacity to understand and describe architectural plans
- good knowledge of English
- Certain knowledge of editing processes for articles

We offer
Start date during October 2024, for at least 6-12 months.
The anticipated workload per week may vary between 8-15 hours, hourly wage.
You’ll have a workplace in one of our offices on the top floor of the RZ building (Clausiusstrasse 59) and full access to our infrastructure, which can also be used for your study purposes.
