Research in the life sciences is currently undergoing major changes. Medicine today is becoming more and more individualized, personalized medicine. As a result of this development, the ETH Board has launched for its institutions the strategic focus area "Personalized Health and Related Technologies" PHRT in order to support the corresponding cutting-edge research. Since 2017, more than 50 research projects and three technology platforms were granted. The PHRT research program of the ETH Domain is coordinated with universities, hospitals and other initiatives in Switzerland. The PHRT management office at ETH Zurich is searching a Medical Director as of 1 February 2020 or according agreement.
In a dynamic environment with short communication and decision paths you will take over the responsibility of the medically oriented tasks in the PHRT office. You will work independently or in consultation with the executive director on a variety of tasks, items and projects. These include, for example, the systematic establishment and expansion of cooperation between ETH Domain research groups and hospitals, medical advice for our researchers, participation in the strategic planning, preparation and follow-up of meetings of committees, organizing and conducting events (workshops, conferences, community-building events, etc.) as well as the accompaniment, support and monitoring of PHRT research projects and technical platforms/centers/hubs. Also, you take care of the preparation of the PHRT annual scientific report. Finally, you establish and keep contact with hospitals, clinics and authorities.
You have a university degree in medicine and have several years of experience in medicine or clinics. Ideally, you will have experience in the field of electronic personal/patient data, in which you got in contact with data security, ethics and law. The interface between research and clinic requires a high level of interest in the relevant topics, whereby PHRT projects mainly concentrate on the scientific-technical and medical-clinical fields.
You established a very good network with doctors in Switzerland and abroad; you are curious, a team player, committed, flexible, reliable and strategically thinking. Your personality is courteous and effective. As a specialized all-rounder in a small team you appreciate the mutual exchange, work goal oriented and deliver on time. You have excellent German and English language skills in Word and writing. Knowledge of French and/or Italian is an advantage.
