The Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering (D-BAUG) is one of 16 departments at ETH Zurich. Consisting of 10 institutes and around 45 professors, D-BAUG creates innovative solutions for the sustainable development of the built and natural environment. To strengthen our departmental communication, we are seeking a motivated individual to join us as soon as possible.

Project background

Under the guidance of the Communications Officer, you will support the day-to-day operations of our web publishing and other activities related to media relations and corporate communications. Your responsibilities will include updating and maintaining website content, ensuring consistency and quality across platforms, creating visually appealing materials, and helping with photography and events. You will collaborate with various stakeholders to meet deadlines, implement branding guidelines, and support campaigns, contributing to a cohesive and professional presence both digitally and in print.

Job description

  • Design and produce news articles in the CMS for the departmental website
  • Design and produce graphics, moving image content as well as printed materials
  • Assist in creating and finding images and preparing them for optimal online display
  • Take photographs of research activities and events for use in news articles
  • Help maintain and further develop the website and assist with further digital channels
  • Assist in the production of the department's quarterly newsletter and annual report
  • Assist with other consultancy and support tasks related to communications and events

The position is initially limited to one year, with the option of extension.

Profile

  • You have a Fachhochschul degree in visual communications and/or web design
  • Experience with Adobe CMS and Creative Cloud programmes
  • Experience with photography and developing graphic campaigns in a scientific context
  • You have an eye for images and how they can be used to convey messages
  • Excellent English language skills and a good knowledge of German
  • You are meticulous, reliable and pay attention to detail
  • You are flexible and able to work four to five days a week
