The MTEC's Chair of Strategic Management and Innovation at ETH Zentrum in Zurich is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to serve as a Hackathon Project Observer for an ongoing research project. This unique opportunity involves immersing yourself in the dynamic atmosphere of a hackathon, where innovative minds collaborate to develop novel assistive technologies to solve real-world challenges faced by individuals with disabilities. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in observing, documenting, and capturing the essence of the projects undertaken during the hackathon event.

Location: Student Project House, ETH Zentrum, Zurich
Job description
- Observe and document project work at the hackathon event from November 3 to 5, 2023.
- Conduct interviews with participants, capturing their insights, challenges, and breakthroughs.
- Create comprehensive and high-quality field notes detailing the progression of projects and team dynamics.
- Collaborate with event organizers and participants to ensure a seamless data collection process.
- Maintain an active presence throughout the event to capture both regular and extended working hours.
Your profile
- Strong communicative skills to gather valuable insights and a keen eye for detail.
- Good interpersonal skills to facilitate effective interviews and interactions with participants.
- Proficiency in German and English, both written and spoken.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Prior experience in event observation, qualitative data collection, or ethnographic research is a plus but not required.
- Availability to work extended hours during the entire hackathon event (November 3 - 5, 2023).
Additional Requirements: - Availability for a preparatory meeting prior to the hackathon.
- Flexibility to participate in follow-up meetings after the hackathon, which will be scheduled to fit your availabilities.
