The MTEC's Chair of Strategic Management and Innovation at ETH Zentrum in Zurich is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to serve as a Hackathon Project Observer for an ongoing research project. This unique opportunity involves immersing yourself in the dynamic atmosphere of a hackathon, where innovative minds collaborate to develop novel assistive technologies to solve real-world challenges faced by individuals with disabilities. The Hackathon Project Observer will play a crucial role in observing, documenting, and capturing the essence of the projects undertaken during the hackathon event.

Location: Student Project House, ETH Zentrum, Zurich

Job description

  • Observe and document project work at the hackathon event from November 8 to 10, 2024.
  • Conduct interviews with participants, capturing their insights, challenges, and breakthroughs.
  • Create comprehensive and high-quality field notes detailing the progression of projects and team dynamics.
  • Collaborate with event organizers and participants to ensure a seamless data collection process.
  • Maintain an active presence throughout the event to capture both regular and extended working hours.

Profile

  • Strong communicative skills to gather valuable insights and a keen eye for detail.
  • Good interpersonal skills to facilitate effective interviews and interactions with participants.
  • Proficiency in German and English, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Prior experience in event observation, qualitative data collection, or ethnographic research is a plus but not required.
  • Availability to work extended hours during the entire hackathon event (November 8 - 10, 2024).
     

Additional Requirements:

  • Availability for a preparatory meeting prior to the hackathon.
  • Willingness to engage in post-hackathon tasks, such as organizing and finalizing data documentation.
