Postdoc function of cytokines in regulating mammalian hematopoietic stem and progenitor cell fates
100%, Basel, fixed-term
The Cell Systems Dynamics group studies cell fate choices and their molecular control in complex and dynamic mammalian cell systems.
In the project advertised here, we are interested in the function of cytokines in regulating mammalian hematopoietic stem and progenitor cell fates.
We will use a combination of stem cell purification, culture and manipulation, long-term live cell imaging, single cell tracking and quantification, large volume 3D bone marrrow imaging with single molecule sensitivity, and ai-supported computational analysis.
Job description
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoc with expertise in molecular and cellular biology, mammalian blood stem and progenitor cell purification, culture and manipulation, and advanced imaging to join our interdisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
Quantitative in situ and in vitro imaging studies related to cytokine signaling and cell-cell interactions.
Design and optimization of multiplexed fluorescence imaging, in situ single-molecule detection, and 3D immunofluorescence techniques.
Primary human and mouse stem cell cultures and lentiviral manipulations to study hematopoietic stem cell dynamics.
Primary mammalian tissue handling: isolation, fixation and vibratome sectioning for immunostaining.
AI-assisted image analysis for spatial analysis of tissue samples.
Multidisciplinary team work, with immunologists, data scientists, and bioengineers, to integrate imaging-based techniques into immunotherapy development.
Presentation and publication of research findings.
Supervision of junior researchers to provide technical and scientific training in advanced imaging and molecular techniques.
Contribution to undergraduate student teaching.
