Teaching Assistant for a Bridging Course Project in Refugee Camps

We are looking for motivated students in Chemistry or Interdisciplinary Sciences at ETH Zurich (Bachelor or Master level) for a bridging course project for chemistry (Matura level) in refugee camps.

Project background

Professor Roland Riek initiated a project to offer bridging courses to individuals in refugee camps and other environments with very restricted access to secondary and higher education. The aim is to offer every individual the opportunity to achieve their potential, regardless of their background or circumstances. The project is supported by ETH Zurich. The bridging courses for chemistry (Matura level) create a learning environment in refugee camps to fill the educational and infrastructural gap to access higher education.

Job description

In a team of teaching assistants and researchers, you design, create and optimize the bridging course for Chemistry on Matura level, you instruct and support the local on-site teachers and you support the team of Professor Riek in further tasks rearding the bridging course project.

During the semester, the workload is max. 15 hours per week. During the semester break, the work load is max. 41 hours per week. 

Profile

  • You are an enrolled Bachelor or Master student in Chemistry or Interdisciplinary Sciences at ETH Zurich.
  • You are interested in teaching chemistry on Matura level.
  • You want to make an impact in combating the social and educational global inequalities.
