IT Security Engineer at the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre

Founded in 1991, the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS) develops and provides the key supercomputing capabilities required to solve important problems for science and society. The center is operated by ETH Zürich and is located in Lugano with additional offices in Zurich.

Job description

The IT Security Engineer position, who is part of our Operational Security team, offers a wide range of technical challenges at the forefront of technology development. In this role, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Maintain and improve our security stance.
  • Develop and maintain strong awareness of the threat landscape.
  • Prevent, detect and react to security issues.
  • Develop, fine-tune and maintain the tools needed for continous vulnerability and intrusion detection.
  • Conduct proactive research to analyse potential security weaknesses and ensure appropriate strategies are correclty adopted.
  • Keep your skills sharp on the latest technology developments and security trends, by also participating into relevant trainings, workshops and conferences.
  • Represent security by participating into multi-disciplinary projects
  • Foster a security-aware culture through for our employees and users community
  • Conduct penetration tests and perform in-depth reviews of internally developed products to identify vulnerabilities.
  • Source and implement new security solutions, also by liaising with vendors when necessary.

Your profile

Expected qualifications:

  • BSc in Information Security (or related fields), and multiple years of relevant hands-on experience.
  • Cyber-security related certifications, such as CEH, CySA+ or similar.
  • Extensive experience with various Linux distributions.
  • Hands-on experience with vulnerabilities management, SIEM, SOAR and malware protection products.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MSc in Information Security (or related fields)
  • Hands-on experience with firewalls, and intrusion detection systems (IDS)
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes environments and with application containerization activities.
  • Experience using Python or other languages.
