Student Assistant at the Chair of Work and Organizational Psychology

10%-30%, Zurich, fixed-term

The Chair of Work and Organizational Psychology at ETH Zurich is looking for a student assistant (HIWI) to work on a project with immediate effect or by arrangement.

We are looking for a student assistant to provide operational support for the project. The workload is approx. two days per week which can be divided flexibly and can be extended during the semester break. We are explicitly looking for students who are interested in a longer-term position (at least till the end of 2025).

Project background

The position offers the opportunity to participate in our current research projects actively, thereby deepening your knowledge of work and organizational psychology. Current research projects include: 1) Exploring new work processes through the collaboration of humans and AI technologies, particularly in the context of architecture, engineering, and construction; 2) developing an uncertainty regulation intervention to help people better face uncertainty in different contexts.

Job description

  • Support in study preparations as well as data collection, processing, and analysis within quantitative and qualitative research projects (e.g., programming of online questionnaires, sample recruitment, coding of interviews, literature review, web-scraping, and social network analysis).
  • Various editing tasks for publications (e.g., preparation of graphics and active participation in text editing, data visualization, creating reference lists)
  • General support with other project tasks

Profile

  • An interest in research 
  • Enjoy working independently and show initiative
  • Great communication skills
  • A committed and conscientious approach to work
  • Exceptional English (other languages, especially German, French, and/or Italian would be an advantage)
  • Experience with statistical programs (SPSS, R, MATLAB, Mplus, ...)
  • Sound IT skills (internet research, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Preferably advanced bachelor’s degree (from 4th semester) or master’s degree
